Football jersey numbers and great stars
The origin of jersey numbers (summary of 20 years of live football experience)
If we trace back history, we can’t help but think of England, the birthplace of modern football.
In 1928, Chelsea played against Arsenal in the league. The Football Association required for the first time that numbers be printed on the uniforms to represent the position of each player. From then on, the printing of numbers on uniforms was gradually promoted in the global football movement, and in 1933 it was extended to the entire English league. It was not until the fifth World Cup held in Switzerland in 1954 that all players’ jerseys were printed with numbers for the first time in the World Cup.
The original numbers represent the positions of the players, from small to large, representing from the backcourt to the frontcourt. 1-11 represent the main players, and 12 and above are substitutes. At first, 12 was mostly the second goalkeeper, and 22 or 23 was mostly the third goalkeeper. Let’s also introduce the representative figures.
